Wipe the door handle thoroughly with the cloth. But i don t have a wood door to clean just a wide expanse of sliding glass doors from my apartment to my terrace which is huge. Open the wood door and use a clean damp cloth to wipe off the edges all around the door frame. Do not spray or immerse the hardware in liquid at any time. If the hardware is very dirty mix in a mild dish detergent to loosen the grime.
