Remove the tile and prepare the wall according to the corresponding instructions above or tile over the existing tile. Glass mosaics are very thin mounted on front placed plastic or mesh backing. A 2 inch tile only requires the use of a 3 16 by 5 32 inch v notched trowel whereas a 16 inch tile requires that you use a 1 2 by 1 2 inch u notched trowel. Add up the wall areas and add 10 so you have extra tile for mistakes or future repairs.

At this point the thickness of the thinset on the wall must be thicker than the tiles. Check the wall behind the stove for any oil or grease stains.
