Using a philips head screwdriver turn counterclockwise to unscrew a knob with standard hex head screws.
If your knob has a pinhole or small slot opening use a flathead screwdriver to push it inward.

Then pry off the round decorative plate called the rose to expose the screws that hold the lockset onto the door.
Look for a thin slot or a recessed hex head setscrew on the lock side of the doorknob.
